If you’ve been struggling to lose weight, whether for days months or even years… Then please play close attention because you’re going to discover it is not your fault.

You often hear vague claims in the news that “sugar is bad for you” or that “wheat and gluten are bad for you“, but do you truly understand what these foods do to you?

Most people DON’T understand the reasons… and the fact is that some of the foods I listed in here can not only terminate your fat burning efforts… but may also DESTROY your hormones and metabolism, and even also CAUSE you to get heart disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimers, and even cancer.

The foods I have listed here are not typically linked to weight gain, but you will see that they do cause significant weight gain and believe me – even I didn’t know this.

So without further ado – let’s dive in and see what foods you should avoid like the plaque.

1.MSG

msg

Monosodium glutamate – We all know that it it bad for you…but there’s more… it is an excitotoxin.

Excito..what you say? Yes – if you eat MSG the cells of your brain “excite themselves to death”
DR.Blaylock

Dr Russel Blaylock an American Neurosurgeon dedicated a lot of his time researching MSG – Please read the following extract from AmericanNutritionAssociation.org

Excitotoxins - American-01

So now we know it is extremely bad for you but how does MSG relate to weight loss? Well here we go…

MSG & Weight Loss

Fat Rats – Rats are used in labs to test all sorts of weight related issues. Now often they need these rats to gain weight. What do they do? They give them MSG and the rats fatten up quite nicely! This is nothing new this started about 35 years back.

Click here and type in rats MSG and you can read all the studies that have been done. It really is a shocker.

A recent study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food has branded MSG as a critical factor in the initiation of obesity in mice. Click here to read the article. “People who use monosodium glutamate, or MSG, as a flavor enhancer in their food are more likely than people who don’t use it to be overweight or obese even though they have the same amount of physical activity and total calorie intake, according to a study in the journal Obesity.” – Science Daily

What happens to us when we eat MSG?

Usually our pancreas produce insulin when we consume carbs. But now, if we consume MSG it stimulates the pancreas to produce 3 times as much insulin, compared to a normal situation. Now all the sugar will be converted into fat. Because of the excess insulin your blood sugar levels will come crashing down – You get hungry after a short time.

At the end of the day, processed food wouldn’t taste any good, that’s why they enhance it with this MSG toxin. Truth is we are eating the cheapest, most profuse, most addictive, and most nutritionally deficient food in the world. We should stay away from this dreadful ingredient and do things as nature intended.

Right let’s move on to food number 2……

But let me ask you this question first:

Which would you choose?

Cola or Apple Juice?

Fruit Juice-01

Obviously the apple juice….Right?

That sounds just great, but there is a catch…

So food number 2 is no other than

2. Fruit Juice

Fruit juices are loaded with Fructose

Of all the sugars there are, fructose has the lowest glycemic index…However there is a BUT

As I have explained in the sugar chapter, fructose is metabolized by the liver and it has no immediate effect on our blood sugar levels (low GI). The side effects of using too much fructose are more long term, and may lead to:

  • impaired glucose tolerance
  • insulin resistance
  • high blood fats
  • hypertension
  • fatty liver disease

The amount of fructose in most whole fruit is negligible in contrast to the levels of fructose in fruit juices and processed foods.

Now obviously fruit juices also contain anti oxidants, minerals and vitamins, however these you can get from other sources.

Another aspect to consider is that your liver converts the fructose to triglycerides (fat) and damaging byproducts.

Triglycerides = Fat

No Fiber

If you eat an apple the fructose is bound within fibrous structures and these will break down slowly when digested. After one whole apple you may feel satiated, but with fruit juice you can drink on and on, but not feel satiated.

The fructose amount is far less in whole fruit than in fruit juices and is slowly transported to the liver and your liver can deal with this situation optimally.

Now let us see how 12 ounce (350 ml) of Coke and Apple juice compare….speaking of which – the sugar molecules in coke and apple juice are identical and your liver treats them exactly the same.

3 . Aspartame

Really I’m sick to death of these cleverly disguised diet- light- zero- low calorie- drinks that are dangled in front of our noses to consume because… you will lose weight and it’s healthy.

You have been lied to, that’s the simple fact of the matter.

Aspartame is about 200 times sweeter than sugar. It only contains 4 calories per gram and because so little is used it is practically negligible. Aspartame is marketed under the NutraSweet, Equal and Sugar Twin brands. To the unsuspecting consumer this sounds like a great situation to help lose weight.

The aspartic acid in aspartame is an excitotoxin, just like glutamic acid in MSG. It also over stimulates certain neurons in the brain until they die.

Phenylalanine and aspartic acid are the 2 amino acids that make up 90% of aspartame. These two amino acids stimulate the rapid release of leptin and insulin. As discussed in the hormone sections these hormones play a huge part in satiety and the storage of fat. Here is the kicker -you don’t even need any calories with the aspartame to stimulate the insulin and leptin. As we know constant high levels of leptin and insulin can lead to diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

In a 25 year long study it proved that drinking diet drinks increased your chances of serious weight gain. Click here to view the study.

Sweetners to avoid:

  • Saccharin (Sweet’N Low, Sugar Twin)
  • Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal)
  • Acesulfame potassium or ace-K
  • Sucralose (Splenda)
  • Succlarose

Some more proof……

Data gathered from the 25-year long San Antonio Heart Study showed that drinking diet soft drinks increased the likelihood of serious weight gain – far more so than regular soda.

On average, for each diet soft drink the participants drank per day, they were 65 percent more likely to become overweight during the next seven to eight years, and 41 percent more likely to become obese

– San Antonio Heart Study, 2005

…and…

In this two-year long study, which involved 166 school children, increased diet soda consumption was associated with higher BMI at the end of the trial.

4. Trans Fats

Trans fat is short for trans fatty acid. In miniscule amounts they are naturally found in meat and dairy products. The bad trans fat we want to avoid is artificially created by hydrogenating plant oils and animal fats.

Trans Fats are industrially manufactured because:

  • Trans fats are cheaper than let’s say… butter
  • It prolongs the shelf life of foods significantly
  • Resists rancidity
  • Improves texture

Trans fats are also called hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. Problem is they are everywhere…Chocolate, margarine, potato crisps, cheese spreads, biscuits, crackers, french fries… you name it.

Brian Olshansky, MD, University of Iowa Health Care professor of internal medicine, treats patients with heart conditions. He explains that:

“The problem with trans fatty acids is that your body doesn’t know what to do with them” and “Normal fats are very supple and pliable, but the trans fatty acid is a stiff fat that can build up in the body and create havoc.”

Trans Fat = BIG Belly

Here is an article that was featured on Webmd.com…quite interesting…check it out

Trans Fats-01

So you have to check the ingredients and if it says hydrogenated oil or partially hydrogenated, simply do not buy it.

5.Wheat

Wheat

Think about it, breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner…most of the food you eat contains wheat. After all that is what conventional diet experts tell you to do. “Eat wheat, it’s good for you, you need the fiber”…bla bla bla

Buckle up… because what I’m going to tell you now will knock your socks off…

…Especially if you want to lose weight

Most people will be quick and chirp “But the people of the bible ate wheat”. Yes they did, but not the same wheat. And trust me, back then they did not have a tsunami of problems including, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, dementia, depression etc all inflicted by bad diet choices.

The wheat we eat today which is mass produced all over the world is a scientifically engineered food developed in the last 50 years. Why? They wanted a much better yield, and they wanted wheat that is heat, drought and disease resistant. This new wheat is dwarf wheat. The original wheat (like in the bible) known as emmer and einkorn are totally different.

Dwarf wheat contains much higher amounts of starch and gluten and many more chromosomes coding for all kinds of new strange proteins.

You reap what you sew, but this wheat we are reaping and eating is the cause of many problems, here is why…

1.Super Carbs

On average modern wheat flour has 70% carbohydrate, 10 – 15% protein and 10 – 15% indigestible fiber.

It is called a complex carbohydrate because it is made up of repeating chains of glucose. So your simple carbs, which your dietician wants you to avoid, are glucose and fructose which are commonly known as sugar. These conventional dieticians will have you eating the complex carbs like they are going out of fashion because they are good for you…

Now the complex carbohydrate has 75% amylopectin A (branching glucose unit) and 25% amylose (linear chain of glucose). Both will be digested by amylase (enzyme in the stomach). However the amylose is not digested as well as amylopectin A.

Amylopectin A – the supercarb is digested very quickly and efficiently converted to glucose. This will have your blood sugar levels sky high before you know it. That is why wheat is fattening because there is NO other carbohydrate out there that can do this to your blood sugar.

Imagine…

Carbs - Wheat Belly-01

The problem with this Super Carb (amylopectin A) is that if you eat 2 slices of bread your blood sugar levels will increase even more than eating a candy bar.

But it doesn’t end there…after about 2 hours your blood sugar levels plunge and you get hungry, more often than not you will be eating something that contains wheat again to curb your hunger pains and this cycle of high and low blood sugar levels go on continuously throughout the day.

This whole cycle of up and down over the years will certainly result in more fat, especially in the mid section (visceral fat). After all what will your body be doing with all the excess glucose? However the problem doesn’t end there. The bigger the belly the higher the demand for insulin, and this is where insulin resistance starts and leads to diabetes.

The more you eat of this super carb the more weight you will gain, If you eliminate wheat from your diet and you eat good healthy foods you will not experience these hunger pains and want to eat the whole day through. Wheat stimulates your appetite and that brings us to the next point.

2.Super Addictive

For arguments sake let’s imagine…

Picture someone you love dearly – child, mother, husband sister or brother and you per accident discover they have a problem with drugs.

One night you find them on the floor … wasted! You rush them to hospital as fast as humanly possible. The nursing staff get the lowdown and they decide to give the patient naloxone. Whats that? It is a drug that reverses any opiate drug.

Keep that situation in mind.

When you eat wheat you also digest gluten. Stomach acid and pepsin (stomach enzyme) break down the gluten into polypeptides. Now these polypeptides (exorphines) have the ability to penetrate your blood brain barrier (a layer of tightly packed cells that make up the walls of brain capillaries and prevent substances in the blood from dispersing freely into the brain) and will end up binding themselves to your brain’s morphine receptor.

So back to your loved one. The exact same thing happens when you take drugs like cocaine or heroin, you get addicted to that bad stuff because it enters the blood brain barrier and binds itself to the morphine receptor. You are on a high… Unbelievable…

Remember the reversing effect of the naloxone? So many people get a “high” when they consume jummy cookies, bread, cake etc and they don’t even know it. All they know is that they want more. Well interestingly enough if you would take naloxone after the consumption of a delicious cinnamon doughnut aka wheat, it would block the binding of the exorphins to the brain cells.

Which just goes to show – if you eat doughnuts, cookies, pretzels etc you just can’t stop yourself…It’s one after the other. On the other hand if you eat broccoli you can stop yourself anytime? It doesn’t contain these exorphins…

Now you see… the MORE wheat we eat, the MORE we want to eat of it…IT IS ADDICTIVE and eventually makes us fat and sick.

3.Super Gluten

Gluten has 2 proteins gliadins and glutenins. In celiac disease the gliadins will trigger the immune response.

I want you to read this brilliant article from Doctor Mark Hyman, honestly I couldn’t have done better…
