Moringa – What it is & why You should care…

A Superfood You absolutely need to know about…

Moringa (Moringa Oleifera)

If you include this superfood to your diet it can help disease-proof your body with powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-aging ingredients. It also can help prevent your blood sugar levels from spiralling out of control — and even correct cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Dr. Monica G. Marcu, Pharm. D., Ph.D. called Moringa a “vitamin factory” in her book Miracle Tree.

Moringa has:

  • 25x more iron than spinach
  • 17 x more calcium than milk
  • 15 x times more potassium than bananas
  • 10 x more vitamin A than carrots
  • 9 times more protein than yogurt

Moringa oleifera provides 36 natural anti-inflammatory agents and 46 antioxidants that will help protect your cells from free-radical damage, including:

Beta-sitosterol—blocks cholesterol formation and/or build-up

Caffeoylquinic acid—a powerful anti-inflammatory that may assist in lowering blood pressure

Kaempferol—promotes healthy cellular function

Quercetin- Known for its ability to neutralize free radicals and relieve inflammation

Zeatin—a plant hormone with powerful skin anti-aging properties

In fact, moringa registered a higher ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score (157,000) than most anit-oxidant superfoods that are traditionally talked about, such as Acai berries, green tea, blueberries, dark chocolate, garlic, goji berries, pomegranates and red wine.

Throughout the world, Moringa is used for treating conditions such as

  • Inflammation-related diseases
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Anemia
  • Arthritis and other joint pain, such as rheumatism
  • Allergies and asthma
  • Constipation, stomach pains and and diarrhea

Fantastic don’t you think?

This is what the tree looks like:

If you decide to use this superfood (which I hope you do) then you should use the leaves in powder form, either the capsules or the powder on its own.

Moringa can have laxative effects in large quantities, so a safe dose to start with to avoid digestive problems is ½ to 1 teaspoon per day.
